Why the enthalpy version
This is the Brink Flair 325 fitted with an enthalpy exchanger instead of the standard plate exchanger. Everything else — the 325 m³/h capacity, the constant-flow EC fans, the summer bypass, the controls — is the same as the standard unit.
A standard exchanger recovers heat and nothing else. The moisture in the extract air condenses out and runs to waste, which is why a conventional unit needs a condensate drain. An enthalpy exchanger transfers a share of that moisture back into the supply air along with the heat.
The house does not dry out in winter. In an airtight dwelling running continuous ventilation, indoor humidity through a cold spell often falls into the twenties. That is the point at which people notice dry throats, static, shrinking joinery and cracking in timber floors. Recovering moisture holds the level up without a humidifier and without using any more energy.
There is no condensate drain to run. Because the moisture is transferred rather than condensed, the unit needs no drain connection. Where the unit sits in a loft or a cupboard and a drain and trap would be difficult, that on its own often decides it.
One thing to be clear about: an enthalpy exchanger is not a dehumidifier. If the property has too much moisture rather than too little — a flat with heavy bathroom use, or a new build still drying out — the standard exchanger is the right choice, because you want that moisture out of the building rather than returned to it. Enthalpy earns its keep in dry winter conditions, not damp ones.

About the Flair 325
Balanced supply and extract ventilation with heat recovery for medium and larger houses, up to 325 m³/h. Constant-flow EC fans hold the commissioned rates as the filters load, so the system still performs in year three rather than only on handover day. This is the right-hand version: the supply and extract connections to the dwelling are on the right as you face the unit, with all four spigots on the top.
